MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team is ranked 10th out of 15 teams in the NCAA Super Region 3 preseason ranking released Thursday.

SMSU is ranked seventh out of nine teams in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference preseason rankings.

Maryville (Mo.) earned the top spot in the region rankings with 80 points, followed by St. Cloud, Augustana, Lindenwood and Central Missouri capping off the top-five spots.

In the NSIC, St. Cloud took the top spot with 76 points, followed by Augustana, Minnesota State, Upper Iowa and MSU Moorhead to round out the top five.

The Mustangs will host the Brown & Gold intrasquad dual this Saturday starting at 5 p.m., in the PE Gym.

SMSU opens the regular season on Nov. 13 competing at Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell, S.D. The Mustangs will open up their eight-match NSIC dual season at Augustana on Jan. 22. SMSU’s first home dual will be Jan. 23 at 7 p.m., versus U-Mary.
